Reliable leaker and podcaster, Nate the Hate, announced on his podcast that the Switch 2 will be announced this Thursday, 16th January. Meanwhile, Tom Warren of The Verge corroborated on X that a Switch 2 reveal is expected this week.
While Nintendo has yet to make an official statement, the credibility of both Nate the Hate and Tom Warren suggests the announcement is likely.
Nintendo is expected to unveil the hardware, with the Switch 2 games lineup at a later date. I would not be surprised - given the current trends - if the Switch 2 launch lineup is leaked ahead of Nintendo's announcement.
Personally, I'm hoping for Splatoon 4 on launch. Splatoon 3 recently ended its major updates, with the only new additions being splatfest themes. Mario Kart 9 is currently rumored to be a Switch 2 launch title, which would be a good move considering how much longevity Mario Kart 8 had throughout the Switches life cycle.
